What is the best way to slaughter a pig for food?

1. Stab the pig in its throat with a knife, and let it bleed out - before butchering it.

2. Cut the live pig down the middle (rump end first) with a chainsaw, then butcher it.

3. Cut the live pig in half with a sword, then butcher it.

4. Hog-tie the live pig to a stick, and play the fiddle until the pig has a heart attack. And then throw it into a giant food grinder, and turn it into dogfood.

    Shoot it between the eyes or hit it with one of those electric gizmos.

    #1 is a very primitive style that gives us the term "like a stuck pig." If you don't want to be reminded of your ex wife right before dinner, we use a bolt or small round to render the animal unconscious before dispatching.

    You slit the throat and hang the pig upside down for the blood to drain.  You catch the blood in a bucket and mix it with a filler and make blood sausage out of it.  You can buy blood sausage in many grocery stores.   It is an "old country" food.  The excess fat is mixed with lye and made into soap.  That is the soap that people used before the modern soaps.  It was a powerful soap.  Washing a kids mouth out with soap for cussing was a serious thing because the soap would take the skin off on the inside of his mouth.
