Are unicorns in the same genus as horses and zebras?

If they existed, and they look as generally depicted, yes they probably would be.

They're mythical creatures... I'd assume they're a mixture of several existing animals, much like mermaids, minotaurs or hydras.

No, they are not even in the same genus as CHINESE unicorns! On a side note though, AFRICAN unicorns are in the same genus as Chinese ones!!

No. The unicorn is depicted with cloven hooves. Horses and zebras aren't cloven-hooved.
The unicorn would be more closely related to, say, pigs for example, than to horses.

The unicorns mentioned in the Bible were Nile Rhinoceroses. The Latin word unicornus was also used to describe rams with a fused horn. The heraldic white horse with a narwhal tusk growing out of its face, is a far more recent invention.
