“ … how do we restore public confidence in a system that is completely torn down.”?

A question asked by the eight-year city clerk of Rochester Hills, MI, a Republican, who withstood profane and threatening emails and telephone calls for supporting vote count legitimacy indicating Biden won. While attesting to the accuracy in her own area, she can’t attest to the process in PA, GA, AZ or anywhere else. Trump’s actions have put voter confidence and American democracy on trial, but only as the final straw breaking the camel’s back. Decades of public doubt is reinforced repeatedly with eternal bickering over gerrymandering, claims of voter disenfranchisement, illicit voter registration and outright refusals to update voter registration rolls by biased leadership of one Party distrustful of the other. Regardless what the media prints, Trump is only catalyst, not cause of what’s happening. The only way to restore public confidence in the election system is to allow this dispute to play out through the courts as was designed by elected representatives of the people to assure ‘absolute’ legitimacy. Nothing else will tone down partisan rhetoric and keep peace in the streets. What happens then is anyone’s guess, civil war … resignation of half the country to accept a President thought illegitimate … or, a do-over election with every single vote counted by pairs of bi-partisan election workers, prohibitively expensive, but far cheaper than civil war. Legitimacy of American democracy is still in the hands of the people. Too bad the media has its’ thumb on the scales.

we allow both sides to be poll watchers, and be honest about mail-in ballots that are clearly suspect...Nobody living at Starbucks is going to just vote for Biden only, no other down ballot issues...let us see these ballots....

The individual in question fostered the lack of "public confidence" in the system when they voted against certification for blatantly partisan reasons.  They should be removed for violating their oath of office when they put their political beliefs above the will of the voters.
