Should the 2 US citizens detained for speaking Spanish in Montana have settled with the US Border Patrol for their entire budget, each?
After all, they can only screw up so often when they have no operating budget.

Perhaps you should read up on how damages works.

The agents who detained them should be prosecuted for kidnapping and illegal imprisonment, and civilly sued for every penny they are worth.
Spanish is the language spoken before joining the USA in Florida, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and California; just as Dutch in New York, Swedish in New Jersey, French in Louisiana, Russian in Alaska, Hawaiian in Hawaii. ICE and TSA are far too ignorant to be aware of any of this. I would love to see their reaction to people speaking Navaho or Iriquoian

You seem confused or perhaps just stupid
A law suit awards money based on damages
What damages were incurred ?

No. But it's a bit ridiculous to be detained for speaking Spanish. Especially when there is not an official language for the US.
