--  From most, but not all.  You can get an STI from kissing, especially if the partner has Herpes (either strain).

Yes you are for the most part. But remember condoms do break

Doesn't matter if you're gay straight, bi sexual, stds and condoms don't care what your sexual orientation is. 

Condoms don't protect against herpes and HPV, they can affect areas of the genitals that are not covered by a condom.
