Every place where you'll see a NYPD cruiser is a third-world shithole.

Most sane people aren't really interested in touring Harlem........so, keep yourself below 85th street, and you'll be fine.

Only idiots walk thru Central Park at NIGHT.  In the day, it's lovely.....but you want to be out of there before dark.

Tourists are unlikely to be interested in visiting areas that have elevated crime rates.  A few such, one in each borough as examples, are the south Bronx, east Harlem, Bed-Stuy (Brooklyn), south Jamaica (Queens), Mariners Harbor (Staten Island).

All of NYC is pretty dangerous right now.  People are moving out of the city because of it.  de Blasio has let the criminals take over the asylum.  NYC needs a law and order mayor again.

My daughter lives on the upper west side, she routinely sees people shooting up on the sidewalk.  Muggings, rape etc.. are all on the up swing.

Now isn't a good time to visit but if you stay in the tourist areas you'll be okay.  There won't be any Broadway shows till next June.
