    It is both.

    My father-in-law eats tomatoes raw, like an apple, so that's a fruit. He likes tomatoes in his pinakbet too so that's a vegetable.

    While scientifically speaking it is technically a fruit, from a practical standpoint it is treated like a vegetable :)

    Tomato as like as south asia take it vegetable to cook sour dal making with water,it is very helpful for hot and cold weather and people fond to take this cooking drink with thier rice and vegetable instead of taking lentil. Because it is costly to buy for a poor people.In winter season tomato cost is going to very lower. People take tomato as salad in lunch time.

    I'd say it's a fruit because it has seeds, but we call it a vegetable.

    It's a fruit, in the deadly nightshade family.  It is not closely related to apples, which are in the rose family.  Other fruits in the deadly nightshade family include aubergines and bell peppers.
