Why do people say other people don't remember your embarrassing moments?

Of course they do, we just don't think about other people's embarrassing moments as often, but sometimes they pop up. I still remember when a classmate sh*t himself in 4 grade and a lot of other things, but nothing compares to my CRINGE moments. That's why I'm asking, I'm the most ridiculous person you will ever meet (at least in my school life) and I am suffering cringe attacks to the point where I cant think of anything else. HELP.

People tend to magnify their embarrassing moments.

I think the point is that it is cringeworthy from your perspective not theirs, so it isnt something they remember happened unless someone else brings it up but they forget 15min later in conversation about something else.
