Will NYC ever rebound from Covid, Police Defunding, protests, and homelessness?

New York, New York, a heckuva town. The Bronx is up, but the Battery's run down. The people ride in a hole in the groun'. New York, New York, DeBlasio's a heckuva clown

The city deserves every bad thing that it gets for having liberal criminals in power.

Yes, eventually things will get better as they did in other places after other pandemics some of which were much worse than this one.

Protests are nothing in NYC.  I remember about fifteen years ago passing City Hall Park and three separate groups were holding three separate protests over three quite different issues.  All at the same time.  Without someone complaining it wouldn't be NYC.  Police have not been defunded.  Some of the enormous police budget has been re-directed to support community-oriented police activities, cutting down on some other activity.  NYC survived the 1918 flu epidemic, and before that small pox, typhoid and other epidemics that had much higher fatality rates.

NYC rebuilt from Hurricane Sandy, the 9/11 attacks, fires, riots, being captured by the British (both when they took it from the Dutch permanently and when they briefly took it from the colonists during the Revolution), the Great Depression, etc., etc.  What's happening now is nothing compared to what NYC has survived over the last several hundred years.

NYC had the most funds per capita for police at 42 per 10000 residents.

We can surmise you were over funded.

Los Angeles (25 officers per 10,000 residents) and places on the west coast that were properly funded are going to have a significantly harder time.

    - ridiculous that people like Garcetti don't think you need to analyze before you scream defund.

We can surmise that most places will rebound... but it's possible it takes 20 years.

It may never recover for DeBlasio who has the be the most inept person to have ever been a big city mayor
