If a Chinese woman angrily slapped her Taiwanese cousin for claiming Taiwan was not part of China, is she at all justified?

It's justified.  If she didn't do that, the government might have gone after her; and the unforgiving Chinese social media might have gone after her.

No, as its an unnecessary use of violence.

Violence is never justified, so no.

    ps,  Rick is wrong.

Taiwan / ROC also claims the territories of both countries.

    extract.

"Both the ROC and the PRC still officially (constitutionally) claim mainland China and the Taiwan Area as part of their respective territories. In reality, the PRC rules only Mainland China and has no control of but claims Taiwan as part of its territory under its "One China Principle"."
