    No.  A welfare state removes the incentive to be productive and one ends up with an ever shrinking part of the population trying to support ever growing entitlements.  It’s not sustainable as witnessed by the USSR.  Sweden is now running into the same problem.    Their strong entitlement programs are attracting an ever growing immigrant population that is sucking more out of the system than contributing.    

    Rather than giving handouts, we should be enabling and encouraging people to earn their own way.    That said, some entitlements are ethically necessary.

    no, but maybe for 6 months until there's a vaccine.
