You asked this question yesterday and received many good answers, including mine. Here it is again:

a) nth term of AP is a + (n - 1)d

so, 3, 5, 7, 9,...a = 3 and d = 2

Hence, 3 + 2(n - 1) => 2n + 1

b) with 5, 2, -1, -4,....a = 5 and d = -3

Hence, 5 + (n - 1)(-3) => 8 - 3n

a) d = 2. a(n) = 3 + (n - 1)(2). a(n) = 3 + 2n - 2. a(n) = 1 + 2n.

b) d = -3. a(n) = 5 + (n - 1)(-3). a(n) = 5 - 3n + 3. a(n) = 8 - 3n.
