Poison tax. Alcohol is expensive as a way to keep people from buying too much. Alcohol is a drug and when men drink too much they tend to beat the women in their lives.

    Soymilk isn't that healthy.

The cost has nothing to do with how healthy a food or beverage is. In the US alcohol is taxed at a high rate, so it will tend to be more expensive than non-alcoholic beverage options, in most cases.

Cheap Vodka in 1.75L bottles excluding all taxes priced at  $2.48/liter including retailer profit.

The rest is excise taxes, sales taxes, branding, producers and wholesalers profit, packaging.

Soy milk at $2.50 per half gallon is $1.32 per liter

Prices are by cost to produce and competition.

🥴 Vodka is easier to find.

Soy products are expensive imports. Rare to find and not high in demand in certain areas.
