Can a bad starter damage the alternator and battery?

Alternator has regulator to keep the voltage not overshot. The answer is NO. Bad starter cannot damage an alternator and a battery.

Not the alternator.
I have seen bad starters drawing huge current. If you persisted in trying to start the engine, you might be able to injure the battery. It's an interesting question.

Nah. When a starter is bad, you will have a harder and harder time starting your car, and then it will just stop working.

In spite of the gloomy answers it's very unlikely.

No but a bad battery can ruin an alternator and burn out a starter.

Sure, starters can go bad and draw huge amps when trying to start, thus damaging the battery. The alternator is a stretch but you might argue the damaged battery then loaded the alternator excessively and caused it to fail prematurely.

They're all related, so it's possible. Guessing and throwing in new parts until the problem goes away is how some shops work.It makes more money for them than careful diagnosis.

in a chain-reaction it could possibly in theory......... the battery be so low you have to constantly get jump-starts.
