Why is my grandma so sad about losing her mom? I don't get it?

They always fought and my grandmother had a bad childhood memories in her past. But yet she still cries about losing her mother, should I tell her to suck it up because she claims her old age (60) is a excuse and she keeps saying shes mentally exhausted.

I think that would be a cruel thing to do. When a person loses their parents no matter what their age is it leaves a profound sense of finally being alone in the world. That feeling isn't something that you can just "such up" and make go away. So that advice will be completely useless. The revelation that her grandchild has no compassion or understanding won't be helpful to her either.

No. People can have complex feelings about death, with both good and bad memories of someone. Be there for her and support her.
