    I think they may  have a typo in the question. It should be the limit as x approaches 0 not 1.

    lim    [e^x-1] / x

    x→0

    Another good hint would be to rewrite 1 as e^0.

    lim [e^x-e^0] / (x-0)

    x→0

     This would be the derivative of f(x) = e^x at x = 0.

    if you don't know L'Hospital's methods the go to ' wikipedia.org '

    and read...then you should see the answer to the query is 1...by just looking at it
