Would public discourse potentially become more civil if people generally considered what kind of thing COULD disconfirm their own beliefs?

    I doubt it.

    Public discourse is about being willing to break bread with people who disagree with. You can be as willing as ever to question your own beliefs, but if you aren't willing to respectfully engage with other people, that willingness means nothing.

    These days, anybody who questions there own beliefs does it alone, because conversation is all but impossible.

    Hell, R&S proves that much.
