Two forces act at right angles with respect to each other on an object. The forces have magnitude 50 N and 120 N. What is the magnitude of the resultant (net) force acting on the object? Assume the forces given are the only ones to be concerned about.

    Fr = √F1^2+F2^2 = 10√5^2+12^2 = 10 √25+144 = 10*13 = 130 N

    By the Pythagorean Theorem,

    F = √(50² + 120²) N = 130 N
