"Punching up" is generally okay. Since white people are still the dominant race in America some mockery of them is acceptable. With black people it's more sensitive because it can easily turn into bullying when done by white people. Making fun of poor white people is generally also not seen as acceptable because that is also "punching down"

Not quite right. You can only make fun of white straight males. Whites women and BLTs are also off limits.

The only funny line in Crazy Rich Asians is "Eat your lunch! Don't you know kids are starving in America???"

There is a difference between demeaning an entire class of people and satirizing a group of people in a comedic way. And also there is nothing wrong with showing an evil character who is from an ethnic group if it does not imply that all members of the group are somehow inferior or evil. Black people in early Hollywood movies were depicted as servants and slaves and whites as the heroes and the ones with feelings. The most blacks were shown in a positive way was aiding the white master but little was shown of their own lives outside of how it affected the master. And others were shown as buffoons for laughs. Then there was a revolution in Hollywood and with the emergence of some popular black actors like Sidney Poitier blacks were shown as real people with emotions and also depicted in heroic roles in such films as The Heat of The Night. Now the field is wide open so you might be seeing bad movies but in good movies what you are saying is not the truth. The bigger problem is that the public does not demand good acting or good movies.

And don't forget Whoppi Goldberg as a white male in The Associate.
Explain? It seems there's a double standard when it comes to what is viewed as racism.
By the way, I am hispanic, so I'm also minority.

It is the social justice propaganda at work. They are taking the humor of language, no more nicknames, off colored jokes or poking fun at any and everything. That is why comics don't do to many University performances anymore, because this is where the movement is at it's worst.

White guys have a sense of humor, that's why there are no black or female comedians.

left-run media and entertainment has been supportive of attacking whites since the late 70's .. strong self reliance and independence is ultimately what they want to stamp out .. not whites specifically, but they are the established population that is that way .. minorities are dependent on 'the state' .. thats what they want for everybody, so they want you to 'be like them' ...
