PERIMETER = 2 ( LENGTH + WIDTH )= 312

LENGTH + WIDTH = 312/2 = 156

LET THE WIDTH BE X

LENGTH = 5X +6

5X +6 +X = 156

6X= 150

X = 25

ANSWER WIDTH = 25m length = 131m

The perimeter of a rectangle is 312 meters.

If the length is six meters more than five times the width

what are the length and the width?

l + w = 156

5w + w = 150

w = 25

The length of the rectangle is 131 meters and

the width is 25 meters.

Given

P = 312

l = 5w + 6

P = 2l + 2w

312 = 2(5w + 6) + 2w

312 = 10w + 12 + 2w

312 = 12w + 12

312 - 12 = 12w

300 = 12w

w = 25 m Answer//

l = 5w + 6 = 5(25) + 6 = 131 m Answer//

Therefore, the length is 131 m, and width is 25 m

ℓ: length of the rectangle

ω: width of the rectangle

The perimeter of the rectangle is:

p = 2.(ℓ + ω) → given that it's 312 m

2.(ℓ + ω) = 312

ℓ + ω = 156 → the length is 6 m more than five times the width: ℓ = 5ω + 6

5ω + 6 + ω = 156

6ω = 150

→ ω = 25 m

Recall: ℓ = 5ω + 6

ℓ = (5 * 25) + 6

→ ℓ = 131 m

312 = 2X + 2 ( 5X+6) Perimeter = 2 times the Width + 2 times the Length.

312 = 2X + 10X + 12

312 = 12X + 12

300 = 12 X

X = 300/12

Width = 300/12

You can do the rest.
