  • We dont tip in Europe as our workers are paid a living wage. Tipping is a form of begging. But saying that, only last week I saw a woman crying her eyes out , it was pitiful, she had just lost her holiday money and was then unable to buy gifts for the kids or food etc. Well, feeling sorry for her (And I don't usually do this) I gave her $100 out of my own pocket. After all I had just found an envelope in the car park containing $2500.

We tip about fifteen percent (rounded up to an even number) for regular service, twenty percent for extra attentive service.

Servers are well aware of how well people tip.  They pay special attention to regular customers, less so for disruptive ones.

Overtipping can result from too much alcohol, too few manners, or general confusion about calculating a tip.  It's not usually "creepy" behavior.

Overtipping or undertipping all comes down to personal choice. How the recipient of the tip interprets the gesture is personal.

Not at all if it was a genuinely good level of service!
