It was a contributing factor, but I think God really wanted humanity to spread throughout the Earth.

  • Pride was already in the creation of God, with the Tower of Babel we acquired the diversity of the only language in the world. In fact, God came down and gave the diversity of languages, which is why they abandoned their foolish presumption. That is why in the world there are differences of language in speaking.

Scripture is clear about the Babel incident

    READ:

At one time all the people of the world spoke the same language and used the same words. 2 As the people migrated to the east, they found a plain in the land of Babylonia and settled there. 3 They began saying to each other, “Let’s make bricks and harden them with fire.” (In this region bricks were used instead of stone, and tar was used for mortar.) 4 Then they said, “Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. >>>This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.”<<<<

God had commanded Noah and his three sons to spread out and populate the globe.

Gen 9:1 ¶ And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

The people didnt want to ....

So then they said, “Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. >>>This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.”<<<<

    Gen 11

In part, yes. Mankind wanted to build a tower to reach up to God, even though God's plan was to reach down to mankind, and save us. As though mankind could ever themselves up to God's level !

    Fear and pride.

They thought it would prevent them from being scattered across the earth, and they wanted to make a name for themselves. It’s in the bible in Genesis 11

  • it's very probable that pride played a big role in it, dear.

There's no verifiable evidence that fantasy was ever true.

I think non-existence was the main problem with the Tower of Babel.
