Girlfriend Struggling to lose weight?

is fat at all. She has a flat stomach, but big boobs and wide hips
most of her weight
on her legs). But as a girl she wants to lose weight all over. She barely eats
sometimes going 2 days without food), and on the days she
like a salad and a coffee. Can anyone explain why she's not losing any weight at all? Thanks

Hi there Jeremy I hope your doing well anyway. I wasn't intending to comment but after reading this question it reminded me of my wife's situation.
We both exercised and ate the same, but only I saw improvement. We ended up seeing a doctor who ran a bunch of tests and that was a waste of time, and money.
It took a year before somebody suggested getting estradiol and cortisol checked. Estradiol is the most potent estrogen, and i didn't know this, but it has a motivating action. Cortisol is more interesting, according to the specialist, this is a hormone that's in many cases our of control, or running in a 'free state' as she put it. It's meant to help us but as a result of whatever stress we [most] are under it malfunctions.

Okay so first of all I think that you should gently encourage your gf to reach out to someone. She is exhibiting signs of an eating disorder and Yahoo Answers isn't exactly the space to get help with that kind of stuff. What is of the utmost importance is that you are there for her throughout this. Going two days without eating is not healthy, and just because she isn't losing weight doesn't mean she isn't being affected by it. I understand that this stuff is difficult, and coming to terms with something like this can be a struggle. It can be even harder for those around you to come to terms with it, such as parents. There are resources available for her, try and find a safe space where she can get help. That is not Yahoo Answers.

Starvation mode has kicked in. SHE HAS TO EAT...1000 calories at the VERY LEAST per day...and NOT BE HUNGRY. What she is doing is STUPID!! I recommend 1200-1500 calories a day...exercise optional. Most people have 2000 calories a day to maintain.

Sounds like her body is going into starvation mode. It's holding onto any calories that she consumes because her body doesn't know when it will eat again. To our bodies under eating is the same thing as starving to death. Because it's not getting enough nutrients or calories to sustain itself and to make sure that it runs properly. She needs download loseit! to track her food and she can put in her weight, height, and goals so that it's personalized and it works better for her. Also doing more cardio moderate cardio everyday and intense cardio two to three a times week will help her alot. Also her basically starving herself isn't a sustainable way to lose weight and it's definitely not healthy..in a nutshell any weight she loses she will gain it back because no one can live their life that way forever.

She's screwing up her metabolism by eating so infrequently and so little. Her body is holding on to it's reserves in order to conserve energy. If she really wants to lose weight, she needs to eat 1200 calories per day and exercise.

Under-eating causes the metabolism to slow, so fat loss is more difficult. It's what the body does to conserve energy, when it's not being fed enough. So, anyone who thinks "barely eating" is the key to fat loss, is off the mark. What it typically leads to is a little fat loss, muscle loss, and a slowed metabolism (which makes it easier for the body to gain fat, when the person starts eating an appropriate amount of calories again). Not to mention coffee and a salad are not nutritionally balanced, unless she's got plenty of fruit, veggies, lean protein, and healthy fats in that salad (and one that would satisfy her nutritional needs for the day, would be a really BIG salad).
If she wants to lose fat, she needs to be eating right (not starving herself). Adding exercise can give the body a calorie burning boost, while also being a bonus for overall health and fitness.

Don't mind the negative stuff regarding her weight but if she gorges on food while you worth, then she can't do it. Get all the high-calorie stuff out of that house. It does take support and some kindness but she has to own this and this will require self-discipline.
