The "low oil pressure warning light" turned on in my car yesterday night, but it disappeared today...Why did this happen?

You probably need an oil change if u drove it the oil was hot and when it got cold it got thiker then it turned of if it turn on again thats that if if flashes the same distance of acelerating its a cloged oil pump or filter it the oil light says on its the oil sensor also tge sensor might be failing short it its blinking or a wire thats lose that goes to it if the oil and oil level is ok

you need to look and see why; Check the dipstick for the obvious. It's probably low on oil and when you were coming to a stop, the oil sloshed forward and the oil pickup temporarily starved for oil. When you see the dipstick see how low the oil is, and refill it tothe full level, not more than that though.

another possibility : with a worn engine, light flickers when engine & oil are hot . . . OK when oil is cold. What weight oil are you running?

Did you check the oil level or are you capable of that?

  • First check that you have enough oil and that you don't have a leak.  If the oil on the dipstick appears white and frothy, there is a leak in the cylinder head gasket and it needs to be replaced.  Changing the head gasket is not particularly difficult, but it takes a long time because of all the other stuff that needs to come off first.   If that's not the problem, either the sender (the sensor that makes the light come on) or the oil pump is faulty.  Changing the sender is fairly easy.  Changing the oil pump is a major job and you'll probably need to get it fixed professionally.

Check your oil. Also it may be time to get your oil changed. Your filter could be dirty or something. If you do nothing then you are risking damaging your engine.
