Does Hong Kong belong to mainland China?

After the British handed Hong Kong over to China. And now there's a lot of unrest over whether Hong Kong should remain independent or that it should be run by the mainland China under the CCP.

Yes. The territory was transferred to China in 1997. As a special administrative region, Hong Kong maintains separate governing and economic systems from that of mainland China under the principle of "one country, two systems".

Hongkong is an alienable part of china's terriory ,because after the opium war ,British troops occupied the island ,in 1997,china resumed sovereighty over Hongkong ,Hongkong was governed by british government ,so Hongkong people leaned towards democarcy in many things ,but there is some democratic people that want to stir up the trouble to achieve their ends ,they got American people involved ,

China should adhere to the transfer agreement.  They are not.  No one in their right mind thought they honestly would.  They did not even make it half way.

That nothing "belongs" to anyone isn't a joke. There is no God who says that this is yours and that is theirs. Countries are controlled by governments or tribes or whatever and much of those have settled in for the long haul. France is not going to be changing anytime soon. So yes, the territory was transferred. The citizens of Hong Kong will be the first to say that it doesn't mean that it "belongs" to China though. I take no sides, it's just not as simple as saying "England gave it to China so that is that."
