The latest type screws have 'Pozidrive' heads. This is a superior head to Phillips. In the UK 'Reisser' cutter screws are self drilling and self counter sinking. They are relatively expensive but make for fast work. Yes they work best with a cordless drill driver which has variable slow speeds and adjustable torque. The torque setting determines how deep the screw head ends up.
