Can you rent a car while staying in New York City for a week?

Update:

I'm staying in Brooklyn for a week with family. I'm not staying in any hotels.

yes but you will pay out the butt for parking and looking for parking. Don't rent a car unless you are also going to go to Jersey, up state or Long Island

You can but for what you'll spend on parking and tickets you'd probably be better off just cabbing it or taking Uber.

Well of course you can, why ever not?

But it's not necessarily a good idea.

You can, but you shouldn't. There's no place to park, for one thing. And there's excellent public transportation that will take you where you want to go without the hassle of figuring out the roads and finding parking spaces. We used Uber a lot. That's cheaper than renting a car.

You can, but NYC has an excellent public transport system and cabs are readily available.

Yes, provided you're a licensed driver and old enough for the particular rental agency.

Yes, if: 1) you are 21+ years old; and 2) you can afford to pay for parking.
