No. The Democratic party did not start until 1828.

I believe they were all Whigs and Federalists.

I'm certain someone here has enough history to get this answer correct.

    Casey????

Is that why they hold Jefferson-Jackson Dinners?

Who cares. America is a two-party system so your choice today is Republican Nazis or Democratic corporatists with a liberal fringe. I am a Liberal and will vote Blue, no matter Who, because the alternative is Nazi.

If you decided you were no longer a citizen of the US but instead of some new government you wanted to take over part of the US, you would not be a Democrat or a Republican, you'd be something else. The Confederates may have once been Democrats, but now they were Confederates.

They may have held a member or 2 from some fringe party, but NONE were Republican.
