How do the images in a graphic novel affect the impact of the story?

    Since people perceive things differently it seems to me that the impact would vary from individual to individual.

    A prized possession of mine is the graphic novel version of "The Stars My Destination". The illustrations do real justice to the book. Talk of a movie has been silent for a while but it’s tough to better.

    A picture is worth a thousand words, so that's a lot of words to get wrong if they do't actually tell your story.
