Oh look! A liberal who actually seems to care about the deficit!? What a rare thing to behold. 70% of the Federal budget is just three things: Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. If you are truly worried about the deficit, you have three reasonable choices for a remedy:
--Raise taxes. That will transfer more money to the government, while subtracting money from the private sector. The end result will be to choke the life out of the private sector economy.
--Cut spending. (I've never, ever seen a Democrat ever vote for such a thing.)
--Rev up the economy and let economic growth slowly diminish the deficit.
Trump is going for the 3rd choice. We'll wait and see how it goes. I am optimistic.
--Obama's choice was to have a slow, sluggish, anemic, weak, economic recovery from a major recession, all the while ballooning the deficit. Ok, the deficit slowly and sluggishly diminished under Obama's near stagnant economy, while adding more debt than all previous presidents combined. If that is what Democrats would prefer, I'm sorry for our nation.
Obama is the only president to have less than 3% annual growth during all 8 years of his presidency. That certainly will not be true of Trump.
