Usually when this happens it's because the storage capacity of the card is larger than what the camera's firmware can handle. Look on pg 173 of the S4100 owners manual and you will see the following
For all SD cards, the maximum capacity is 2GB
For all SDHC cards, the maximum capacity is 32GB
For SDXC memory cards, the maximum capacity is 64GB
If your 64GB card is not SDXC, then it's not compatible with the Nikon S4100. If your card is 64GB SDXC and you're getting an error, then there are a few possibilities. The card itself could be faulty, or your camera does not have the most up-to-date firmware. It's possible that the information regarding card compatibility within the current owners manual has been updated for the most current firmware version. I know my camera didn't accept SDXC cards until updated the firmware.
Go onto Nikon's website and check to see what version of firmware is currently available. Compare it to the firmware version on your camera. Often this is done by pressing the menu button and navigating to the icon that looks like a wrench.
