Jesus is physical representation of a spiritual God; i.e., Jesus is the physical body of God. Jesus was prophesied from OT times as our Messiah. Read Psalms 22 and then read John 20. Read Isaiah 53.
Jesus came as a man to be God with us (Emanuel), to follow the law perfectly for us, to pay the price for us. We can't pay the price. Isaiah said He was marred "beyond all mortals." He is certainly more than man to have sustained such a flogging. He is the Passover Lamb that God promised and gave as redemption to Moses and the Children of Israel upon the Exodus. When we worship Jesus, we are worshiping God.
The Israelites in the First Century also worshiped Jesus, which if He were not God would have been a sin. But they recognized Him as the Messiah, as God in the flesh, and they said so and did so. They called out to Him, Son of David -- because they knew the Messiah would be a descendant of David. Thomas bowed at His feet and said, My Lord and my God. The people saw Him coming into Jerusalem riding on a donkey, and they also called out to Him, Hosannah to the Son of David! They lay palm branches at His feet, and their cloaks at His feet -- an act of worship. They weren't the only ones.
And when Jesus was on the cross and said, "It is finished!" it is a direct reference to Psalms 22:31, They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born, that He has done this."
Yeshua is Tamim, and what He did is Tamam. Tamim: blameless, complete, entire, full, intact, integrity, perfect, sincerity, unblemished, upright, who is perfect, whole, without blemish, without defect. Tamam: Finished. It IS finished.
