1. No. Even if you were actually able to remove guns from the hands of everyone, people would use other weapons, such as swords or bombs, to commit crimes. And maybe you could get rid of many swords, but bombs can be made from pretty much anything. So good luck with that.
2. Bans in establishments aren't successful. For example, the 'Pulse' gay bar in Orlando, Florida (the site of a shooting) was legally a gun-free zone. And this is really bad, but I think it is time to say something, so I can do my part in saving lives: Sandy Hook Elementary School was also a gun-free zone.
3. You would never be successful with a national ban. If somebody really wants a gun, anti-gun laws won't stop him or her. He or she could buy them from the black market or from other countries.
Think about it: if you are about to commit a crime (say, a mass-shooting) and kill yourself afterwards, would you really care about being prosecuted for owning a firearm illegally? Real crooks sure didn't.
