If you can find enough games that you would want to play on the Wii U to make it worth the money, it's worth the money.
You know that there won't be any new games on it, but it still has its back catalog of games available.
And yes, I think it was a good system with good games. It just had bad marketing and a confusing message initially so people didn't know what it was at first.
Some games that I would suggest: Wind Waker and Twilight Princess got HD remakes on the Wii U, Breath of the Wild has won several game of the year awards and is on the Wii U, Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.
