comprehensive insurance covers things like a rock crack in the windshield after you first pay the deductible amount.(which is usually the entire cost of the windshield)so you pay.
. If you collide with something(single person accident) such as a tree, or large rock beside the road, tough luck. NO COVERAGE ON YOUR VEHICLE.
. You would need to get collision insurance and there is a deductible on that too. Besides the rate is SO MUCH Higher, most people don't on their own vehicle. They plan never to be that drunk to do it to themselves. Or drive that badly. They will fork out the money for the expense to fix it, or fix it themselves.
The Insurance companies have already figured this out. That is WHY it costs MORE. You are actually paying for it...and the deductible is a greater amount. Insurance jumps in IF it exceeds the deductible and they pay the amount above the deductible. You got to put out FIRST.
BASICALLY, you "bucked yourself".
Insurance has been playing this game a LONG time. You lose when you snooze.
It is written in your policy booklet what they will cover.
