You receive an email telling you that your answer/question has been reported and deleted from the site. You are also told that the 2points you got from posting the answer have been removed (not that I give a hoot about points, they are meaningless (or 'pointless')).
You are given the opportunity to appeal against the decision to remove the post and you can tell them why you feel the question/answer should never have been removed)
If your appeal is successful you are informed that it has been reinstated but if you don't receive an email it is safe to assume that the post will remain deleted.
It is a stupid system because although I agree that the person, or person reporting the post should not be named the person whose post was deleted should be informed of the reason for the deletion so that their can frame their appeal accordingly.
I have been a subscriber to YA for over 10 years and have had about 10 answers removed out of over 5.500 answered.
I appealed most of them which did no good. Only one was reinstated.
None of the answers deleted were against any of the rules of YA and there are far, far, far worse posts giving abuse, racism, sexism. foul language, trolling, stalking among many rule breaking posts which are allowed to stay on public display.
