how are heavy equipment wheels carried by rail?

i mean are they laid flat on a bulkhead flatcar or are they laid flat on their sides?

Update:

this is for general heavy equipment like a caterpillar front end loader or Iron ore dump truck

It would depend on how big the tires are. If a load is too wide for the route it needs to travel on then it would be stood on end. If it's too tall for the route it would get rerouted to get to it's destination. Very tall tires would be shipped upright.

What do you mean by 'heavy equipment wheels'? Wheels for what sort of heavy equipment, or do you mean wheels for equipment that are heavy?
