If you'd paid attention, you'd notice that the MM was for any and all good music, such as classical and jazz composers as well. look around and the pre-reminder on about a million vids says so.Besides, top 40 listeners think we're insane anyway. I don't actually care what they think, as i tend to hate casual music listeners and nonmusicians, because they're always telling me "metal is noise" because they don't know SCALES, SWEEP PICKING, TAPPING, ETC. IS INVOLVED. THAT, AND PPL LIKE MY DAD WHO CLAIM"ONLY FENDER AND GIBSON ARE GOOD" BECAUSE "BLUES PLAYERS ARE THE ONLY GOOD GUITAR PLAYERS".ok, I'm done with my rant, but it isn't only metalheads and mallcore kids involved.
nope, blues players and metal players are both great in their own way. I'm just saying that my dad is convinced that blues players are the only good guitar players; I believe metal players, jazz players, flamenco guitarists, blues guitarists, bluegrass guitarists, etc. are all good, and that nonmusicians tend to make blanket statements about "___ is the best guitarist" Why?"ummm...because he is".
That, and nonmusicians can only appreciate one side of the coin, in that they only care if it sounds good; they can't appreciate BOTH technical skill AND catchiness at the same time, so they claim "metal iz juss noize, all dey do is skweam!", in my personal experience.
Would you rather have insanely rabidly obsessively loyal music fans, or "polite" fans that are completely uninformed?
*If pop fans are going to make universal statements with uninformed opinions, why should we be 'the mature one'?! I've had bad experiences with people who don't know enough about even their own music, so, no, it is not "below" me to annoy them in return.
