I really like Dan Brown - OK so his books are VERY hyped up but they certainly aren't overrated. The Da Vinci code is a real page turner puzzler. I read that fast, then read Angels and Demons, which is ALOT better, just not as hyped up because of the context of the Da Vinci code. I have also read Digital Fortress which was very good, and I started Deception Point which is good but I couldn't really keep it going. I didn't really give it a chance.
I recently read No Time For Goodbye by Linwood Barclay. This story is seriously not very well written. For someone capable of making up this kind of story the writing isn't great. I'm 17 and I think I could have written something equal or better, but the story is AMAZING. Infact I stayed up until 4am reading because I HAD to know what happened!
Completley off the genre, I loved The Highest Tide. I don't know who it is by but it is amazing. Its quite short, very simple but strange story (A boy finds a giant squid.. that is literally what it is about). Its an odd theme but it is beautifully written and such a lovely story!
My favourite book is Lolita. I adore it. I have read it around 10 times I think. It truly is amazing. I will write the blurb out, seeing as it is sitting on my desk now, I really recommend you give it a try. Its an old book, so it is very wordy, but its fantastic.
'Humber Humbert is a middle aged, fastidious college professor. He also likes little girls. And none more so than Lolita, whom he'll do anything to possess. Is he in love or insane? A silver-toungued poet or a pervert? A tortured soul or a monster?... Or is he all of these?'
It makes me cry everytime!
The Book Thief is very good. Its set in WW2 Germany, about a young girl called Liesel who wants to learn to read. She steals books from Jewish book burnings, it also has alot about the Nazis from the side of the Germans. The interesting thing is that it is narrated by Death. I definitely recommend it.
I read alot of books? LOL
