My fiance and I have been dating for 6 years, and engaged for about 2 years (we are taking our time getting married but we just bought a house together last year). I do love him and dont have any second thoughts about marrying him. But he is so annoying. Hes really needy and he complains a lot that I don't cook very good ( I really hate cooking). He always wants to watch tv and cuddle (which is cool but sometimes i need some fresh air, and he never ever wants to do anything outside and be active). I talk to him about the stuff that irritaes me but the convo is always like "well thats who i am so if u dont like it thats too bad" He also complains a lot that I dont have a lot of friends. That kind of hurts my feelings b/c he says it in a derogatory way like theres somethign wrong with me, but I know the reason I dont have any friends is because my career is extremely demanding of my time (im an actuary and currently taking exams for my fellowship). He just hurts me and irritates me and sometimes doesnt give me enough space. Is this the kind of crap everyone goes through? IMO its better than having a terrible secret like cheating-- at least everything is out in the open. But on a scale of 1 to 10 how much should I expect to feel upset about my relationship 6 years in ?

I am the maid of honor for my friend's wedding. She wants two nights in Atlantic City. We live 2 hours away so we will be driving and splitting the cost of gas. So far, the bridesmaids and I have booked a stripper, are splitting the brides share of the hotel and will be gifting her lingerie (the bride commanded we buy her lingerie because she wanted a bachelorette/lingerie party). Is it required of us to pay for the bride's entire trip? As in dinner, spa, lunch, drinks? She has expensive taste so I know her choice of restaurants will be not cheap. Her fiance mentioned to me once that the bridesmaids are supposed to pay for EVERYTHING. I don't know if this is fair being that this is a destination bachelorette party. So far, with decorations and party favors, I'm estimating the bridesmaids and I have spent around $300 each on the party. Not to mention the expenses of the actual wedding, which is also a destination. The entire weekend is going to end up costing us over $500 each, assuming we don't pay for the bride's outing expenses. We are not doctors or lawyers, we work post-college mid-level jobs. It upsets me to have to conform to very unreasonable traditions. If the party was local, I'm well aware the bride shouldn't spend a penny. However, I don't believe the same rules apply to a destination party. What is proper bachelorette party etiquette?

Basically my best friend is getting married in August and my girlfriend hasn’t been invited. I am the 1st bridesmaid or America I think you call it Maid of Honour. All the other members of the bridal party have been allowed to bring their other halves except for me. I feel hurt and upset by this. I thought she liked my girlfriend. We’ve all been out numerous times together and they seem to get on very well. What’s worse is that she has sat all her bridal party together at the top table with their spouses/boyfriends as well so I will be the only one at that table alone. I don’t know what to do, my girlfriend is really upset also because she thought of her as a friend. We’ve been together quite a long time so it is an established relationship. If it where my wedding I would never allow my best friend to be the only person in my bridal party who didn’t have a plus one. Could this be that she is worried about how a same sex relationship will look to her other wedding guests? I’m feeling really upset right now. Should I talk to my friend and politely ask her about it? Should I tell her that my girlfriend and I come as a pair to important events? I don’t know!

I’m worried about my girlfriend. We live together currently. We are meant to be getting married in April and she keeps saying she doesn’t think she can go through with it. She’s very stressed and keeps worrying about her health every day. She keeps complaining of lots of physical symptoms and saying she is sick with worry. She doesn’t have many friends and her sister has let her down as her only bridesmaid and hasn’t helped her with any plans and isn’t giving her a hen do. She seems very anxious and depressed. I’ve tried to help her as much as I can when I’m not at work but she seems distant and really low. I am really worried she won’t marry me. She keeps saying it’s all got out of hand and she doesn’t see the point in a wedding reception when there’s no one to invite and she wants to call off all the plans and just have a quick registry office service. Every experience she has has she’s come home in tears saying something has gone wrong and she doesn’t feel supported and she’s alone. I feel helpless I don’t know how else to help her other than tell her I love her and do what I can. What can I do?

Fast forward to a few months ago, where I found out he was going to propose to me at a friend's wedding, but the groom decided that it wouldn't be a good idea to take attention off of bride. I agree on that, a lot of our friends are ready for us to get engaged and that would have stolen a lot of her thunder that night, especially after I caught the bouquet (would have been the perfect time too). So, now it's been a little over a month since then. I rang across the box in his apartment, while I was cleaning. And, now I'm really wondering what's going on. At this point I'm kinda 'eh' about the whole proposal. I just want to be married and with my man. He says he isn't having 2nd thoughts, and neither am I. But, I'm just tired of waiting for a ring I've seen, and for the question he already knows the answer to.

If you're legally entitled to get your ring back, you can have a lawyer contact her about returning the ring. If she ignores the lawyer's letter, take her to court.

EDIT: I misread your question, and thought she was an ex-fiancee. In some states, fiancees are required to return rings if the engagement is broken, but I'm not aware of states that require wives to do so after a divorce. However, since this ring is a family heirloom, you might possibly still have some rights under the law. So I still think you should check with a lawyer.

If you are sure you won't regret it, go ahead and make that decision- but make sure you're not doing it because you'd be afraid to go down the aisle with them looking on. If you are truly resolved to make all these decisions on your own, you should be able to make them with your parents as witnesses. That would be the ultimate stamp of "it's my life, and look at how I am succeeding in it".

You would be better ff having them there, rather than appearing to be hiding from them.
Take responsibility for what you are doing, invite them, and have them sit up front where they can see it all very clearly. And smile, because this is all up to you to do in your own way, and you know it's not a mistake.

If you cannot do that, you're not mature enough to get married.

She also said there is nothing like your childhood dog. Its great when kids gorw up with a dog, but we just keep fighting over a damn dog we don't even have. I don't want a dog for a while!
