My sister is getting married in March, they’re having a vegan wedding. Both her and her fiancé are vegan. She was a vegetarian from the age of 4 after a school visit to a farm when she refused to eat the pigs she’d spent the day petting. When she was 14 she went vegan. She’s now been vegan half her life. While her fiancé grew up vegan in a vegan household. I’ve never agreed with the fact she was vegan, she got very thin after turning vegan as it’s very restrictive. And now she’s raising my niece vegan which I completely disagree with even if she is the healthiest child I’ve ever seen, she’s never sick. When I got married, we chose to not offer a vegan option. We had a vegetarian option which she refused because the caterer couldn’t promise that there would be no cross contamination with the cheese and cream used. She just sat there and ate the bread sticks and drank water while everyone else ate. When her now fiancé came to the evening do, he brought her some food which they ate in the car because the venue wouldn’t allow outside food. Now she’s refusing to serve anything other than vegan food for her wedding which I don’t think is fair. Is it wrong if I chose not to go purely based on the fact she’s serving vegan food? I don’t fancy being preached at over dinner to why I shouldn’t be eating what I want to eat. Despite the fact her reception is in their garden, she has openly said outside food won’t be allowed as their a vegan household.

Fast forward a few years, I’m engaged and the jeweller creates that wedding ring I’ve always wanted, exactly how I wanted!! THEN, my (now ex) fiancé and I break up and I’ve given the ring back to him. Fast forward a few more years from this and (my now) new boyfriend has proposed to me. It comes to choosing the wedding ring. DILEMMA: I do still love the the ring that I had saved on my phone gallery all those years ago- even having it recreated to be the one that ended up being my ring when I was previously engaged. Would it be wrong/weird/odd to have that ring recreated yet again? (It would be a different jewellers this time round!) I understand some people could see it as being a bad omen or just weird. What are your thoughts?

  • What's the point of posting engagement pictures on social media?

Best answer: The modern wedding has devolved into a 'celebrity for a day' kind of event that's less for the couple to declare their love and more for the couple to show off how much money they spent. Social media just allows people already so inclined to gloat to a wider audience.

  • What do you think about a heart shaped engagement ring?

Best answer: cute when you are young but maybe not so classy for when you are in your 40s and older. Hopefully you get to wear and engagement ring all your life. Plus it might not sit well with a wedding ring if the stone extends beyond the band,

Romantic and cute now but maybe not the best long term choice

My english tutor for 7 years is getting married next Sunday and my mom and I are in an argument for what to get her. My mom insists that a small set of plates and cups from Victorias Basement are perfect but I think a pair of swarvoski earrings or necklace is better. She says that its custom for newlyweds to receive plates but I know that my tutor enjoys accessories and fashion. My mom keeps telling me that it s not right to gift earrings to a bride-to-be but its been over thirty years since her own wedding and especially because she got married to fit south korean culture, not Australian. What do you think? Do you have any better gift ideas?

My boyfriend and I are in our mid to late 20s. We’ve been in a relationship for over a year. He is African and I am Black American. He lives here in America. Also, he has an uncle that lives in our area. Two-three months ago, he proposed marriage to me. I told him that I would like to know his family before I can marry him. He knows my family and my family knows him. He tells me to not worry about his family because they are not here. However, I told him that it’s important that I have some contact with them. He tells me that they are less educated and his parents do not speak much English. Also, he told me to just chill and I can get to know them afterwards. However, I told him that I couldn’t disregard his family. He said to just leave his family alone and that I act like I want to talk to them all of the time. He said I act like I want the world to know. He said we can just go through the courts and have a traditional wedding later- the easy way. I’ve spoken to many people from his country and tribe and they’ve all told me that this is not the usual way that they handle marriage. Something is not right . He keeps preventing me from knowing his family and even on social media he has deleted his family from my Facebook. Last night, he got mad at what I was saying and called me the B-word. I told him that I wouldn’t accept that and haven’t spoken to him since.

Or do we need to get married beforehand in a courthouse and have a "pretend" ceremony if we want her to "marry us"? I've read online that Connecticut doesn't allow people to officiate if they receive an online certificate... and I'm trying to understand the difference between an officiant and justice of the peace! Any suggestions?
