  • Are there any pets that can be left alone for the weekend?

Looking for suggestions on pets that can be left alone for a weekend. I go on weekend trips about once every other month and I live far from friends or family who could watch them. Any suggestions would be great!

So, I'm an animal person and I'm going to college in September 2018. Unfortunately, they won't let me keep anything bigger than a 5 gallon tank in my dorm. I've been considering African Dwarf frogs or maybe a betta, but I'd really prefer something that I could hold and pet. Not a huge fan of spiders, but I like pretty much all other animals. I'm also a hardcore snake fan. I'm willing to put in as much time and money as needed to provide optimal care for the pet. Also, since I only need 3 years for my degree (of which I may just live the first year on campus and the rest in an apartment, depending on what's available), I'd be open to the option of getting a pet that can live in a 5gal as a baby and then be transferred to a larger tank once I'm not living under dorm rules. Any/all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks <3

  • Is it true euthanised dog/cats are used in unspecified dog/cat food?

When I searched up what happened to euthanised dogs there were so many links that stated they get rendered then processed into cheap meat-by pet food. Please tell me it's a rumour.

Thus wanting to foster because it doesn t require AS MUCH responsibility. I know dogs are a big responsibility. I am a fairly active person and will be able to exercise and train the dog. I also will wait 3 months until I start fostering the dog. Finally, I am renting a pet-friendly apartment (depending on the breed). I will check with my landlord if the breed I want to foster is acceptable. Do you think fostering a dog is the right thing and can you give me any tips?

  • How do you handle the unexpected death of a young pet?

When we lose an elderly pet, we are very sad, but deep down inside we know that old age takes us all. But when a young human or pet dies, it's sort of shocking - and we have that to deal with too. No real answers here, other than to allow yourself time to grieve, and to get over the shock. You will always remember the deceased pet fondly and miss their presence the same as you would for a very elderly pet.

I want a rabbit and have done the research(which says it is better to get two since I have school) but my parents said I can only have one. I’m very responsible, my parents and everyone that I know treat me with the respect of an adult because of how responsible I am, but my parents think I should only get one. The reason I should get two is because bunnies are very social animals and it’s best to have two because, I’m not gonna be able to spend all day with it and because a human can never be as close to a rabbit as two rabbits can be close to eachother, but all my parents see is more money to spend and more smell(even though rabbits don’t really smell if you keep their space clean). Any suggestions?
