• Can I put a phono lead from a receiver in to a powered speaker?

I know that the receiver will send power down the cable, but will it affect the powered speaker at all? The receiver doesn t have any alternative line outs or anything and I wanted to use the bookshelf speakers I have for my front surround from the receiver.

I recently cut the cable cord, purchasing a couple of Roku Ultras and a Mohu Leaf. I have an old SONY Bravia and I'm trying to hook up my Onkyo receiver so that I can listen to the TV audio through the receiver whenever I'm watching the Roku or the Leaf. Right now I'm using two HDMIs ports on the back of the TV, one for the Roku and another for the DVD player - both of which the audio is using the TV speakers. This leaves me six more external inputs on the TV. There may not be a way to hook up the Roku Ultra to play audio through the receiver but I feel like there should be a way to connect the receiver to the TV when I'm using the Mohu to watch local channels. Not really too savvy about these kinds of things, as you can tell, but am I wasting my time trying to use my receiver with the Mohu or Roku? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Best answer: Well, a drop-down screen will do you no good with out a projector, hahah,So that's on the list. Oh,.and projectors want hooking up to a source of movies or media, like a disc player or a PC or a cable connection, as projectors are just monitors, only eh, bigger. Real receivers do not come with speakers, so start looking at surround speaker sets. Besides having a place to mount the screen, you will likely need to figure out where to put the speakers, so look at your site and figure that out. Might want some stands, or mounting hardware, a means to hide or channel wireing so its a. not a mess, B. not underfoot. Also where to mount or site the projector, all this equipment plugs into wall power, so make advance prep for that, too. Projection TV is very, very light sensitive, so you need to be able to keep direct sunlight off the screen (curtans, blinds, different wall, Etc.

As Long As the TV has analog audio outputs (RCA jacks or a headphone jack).

    Don't confuse inputs and outputs.

Many modern TVs don't have analog audio outputs.

Digital outputs can be easily and economically converted to analog with a small accessory.

Read The Owner's Manual for the TV.

If necessary, call in a home theater installer for assistance.

  • Klipsch r-12sw frequency range?

Best answer: There are two things that determine the low pass that goes to the sub. One is the knob on the sub itself. The other is the setting in the receiver. Set the sub to LFE (page 242 of the receiver manual http://us.marantz.com/us/Support/Pages/M... (I'd get you better link but they don't want you direct linking to the bloody manual, the wimps)) Then let Audyssey set it up.(Page 187 of that manual) Put the mike where your head goes. This will get you REALLY close to ideal and you'd need golden ears to improve on it.
