I have a Vizio 2.1 soundbar with wireless subwoofer on its way this week and I am trying to determine how I will connect it to my receiver when it arrives. Links below are diagrams of both the soundbar and receiver back panels. What I am thinking about doing is using speaker wire out of the receiver from one of the SPEAKERS output and then using a speaker wire to RCA adapters into the back of the soundbar. Should this work? If not, what would be the best way to connect the soundbar/sub system to the receiver? This will be used in conjunction with 4 surround speakers. https://imgur.com/a/ZNysBvk - RECEIVER https://imgur.com/a/2cteFkg - SOUNDBAR

Best answer: The room is basically a small bedroom. If you need to go beyond what the tv provides, I have to assume sound quality is the driving need, not loudness. You really are not going to find that in the sub 100 dollar market. Just barely okay sound is going to be the rule. On the other hand you do not need giant speakers or lots of wattage to present excellently in such a small space. A fairly small system of quality will do, even if power is limited. A GOOD twenty watt receiver and a pair of smaller bookshelf speakers will fill the room just fine. Dayton audio (parts Express online) has a few small bookshelf speakers that sort of match your budget, likely good enough for such a small space, but powering them would be your problem.

Screen distance will change the amount of distance you want to separate the speakers, and possibly the amount you want to tow them in. but this is just positioning, and will vary from one small room to another.

  • Can my 5.1 home theater Dec run a 12 inch subwoofer?

I had recently purchased a custom made home theater system from a local electronics store. Shopkeeper told that the total power output on the dec was around 250watt RMS (he wasn't sure tho). My question is can my home theater dec run 12 in subwoofer( pioneer TS-W306R) without the help of external power or amp.

  • Is there a way to adjust the volume of headphones separately from adjusting the volume on the audio/video receiver?

I have a terrible time hearing the dialogue while watching TV unless I use headphones. But when I plug the jack into the audio/video receiver, the sound goes mute and my wife cannot listen. Is there a way to separately control the volume of the headphones and TV speakers? I have a five year old Denon A/V receiver.

A piano I'm thinking about getting has a 1/4 inch headphone jack. Now could I use a single 1/4 cable that splits into a L/R and connect that to my receiver, would that work fine for transferring the sound of the piano to my sound system?

I had some big speakers lying around, Mission M71's, and I want to hook them up to my computer, or preferably to the output of my audio interface (I make music, but so far only with headphones). Apparently they used to be connected to a CD reciever. I'm guessing I can just use an RCA connection from the back of my audio interface into this, instead of buying a power adaptor? Anyway, the more pressing issue is that I don't know how to wire up the speakers. The cables come out the receiver with 2 for the left speaker and 2 for the right. Only, each speaker has 4 connectors. There's the red ones, with a + underneath, and the black ones with a - underneath, and for both black and red, there's one with HF above it and one with LF above it. I'm clueless. Which wires go where?
