I know the main problem with this car is the transmission but that’s only if you drive it like a race car ( that’s what I heard) but I am prepared for the transmission to need rebuilding I’m fine with that I just want to know if I should by the impala ss or Monte Carlo ss because the Monte Carlo is a 2 door and the impala is a 4 door so I’m not sure which one to get so if you have some car knowledge or own a Monte or impala ss please tell me what you think

  • I'm so confused about my car?

So the vin number says it's a 2008 Honda civic ex 4 Door sedan. The car has leather sterring wheel, seats, and heated seats and was sold to me as the ex-l sedan. The ex model in 2008 did not come with leather nor heated seats. Yet the DMV believes it's an ex. Am I missing something here?

  • Why does my car rev so high when it is cold outside?

So i got an old junky car. It is a 1997 toyota corolla. For some reason it revs really high when it is cold and you can hear the dash rattling. Is this only because the car is old or could there be something wrong?

You could need 3 minor but inconvenient repairs in your first 6 months.

Even assuming you don't need a motor or transmission, high mileage cars have shorter remaining serviceable lives than their low mileage, more expensive brethren.

I drove a low mileage 94 Buick for a dozen years until about 18 months ago. About once a year, it needed SOMETHING. (Beyond the normal stuff)

I saved a lot by having it but everytime It needed something, it was somewhat of a pain.

Worth buying is hard to answer. I would not want to drive cross country in a high mileage Hyundai.

What is your aptitude for risk? What if it needs a motor or transmission?

  • Is a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix worth the buy?

Best answer: EVEN if the car is currently in good running conditions and the original owner has maintenance records the vehicle still has 160k miles - what does that mean to the new owner - you may get lucky and get another 40-100k miles out of without a major component repair (engine, transmission, head gasket, steering rack,... show more

However most of those items are closer to end of life than the are the beginning so expect something to fail sooner than later- if you have a couple or 3 thousand spare in the bank after purchasing the vehicle you should be good to go IF you want to put several thousand in repairs into a $1600 car - and therein lies the paradox. How much do you spend to keep a $1600 car running.......just food for thought.....
