We can only take one side trip from each place so we want to make it count! We don't mind the cold, we don't mind spending a long day travelling if the destination is worth it and we are interested in history, religion, food, culture, scenery...basically everything which is why it is so hard to pick the best day trip for us! From Paris I am interested in Provins, Strasbourg, Etrat, Mont-Saint-Michel to name a few. From Rome I like Naples, Positano, Florence, Venice...everywhere. Please tell me what do do!!??

Best answer: a city 34 minutes from Paris. Budget an hour to your Paris destination using Public transit. You add in time getting to and from the train stations. Really it is EXACTLY 34 minutes is this walking speed ? Or some magic line on a map. Is it 100 % crime free ?NO Is it a cesspool like many systems in the USA?... show more

It is a good idea to take NORMAL security precautions when out and about. Things like do not have money falling out your pockets. bling everywhere, making yourself look like a rich target.
One person dies every week on the NYC subway. You still ride it.
As Paris is a really large city. it does matter where in Paris you want to visit. The time it will take or route you use to travel. Recommend you get an ALL DAY pass avoids needing to figure out each fare as you travel about your day.

Val d'Europe is the nearby station on the Express subway system (RER)
Welcome to Disney's World or extensive planing outside the park gates.

what kind of train were you expecting? Mickey's ears are visible near the 2:30 mark.

Train or bus service available many times per hour for most of the day.Just like in NYC tourists are advised to avoid rush hours.

Train the Amsterdam? About 3 hours same for London. They are very nice trains. With little crime.

Train stations in Paris and Amsterdam have a lot more windows than the lower levels of Grand Central.

    Train to London starts here.

hence we aren't as friendly or trusting as other Americans.
MAYBE you will learn that the rest of the world is not quite as paranoid as those that live in or near NYC and that public transportation need not be some horror show.

Of course you are probably aware of the one incident years ago when a very serious issue developed on a Paris Amsterdam train.

Or you can go and stay in one of these places for a while, while looking for something long-term. It's generally not worth a real estate person's time to do the search for you.

Is this too much to accomplish in two weeks? We'd like some time to just relax at the hotel and I'm not sure this schedule would allow that.
