So I'm a girl and I've just turned 16 and I can't swim. I really would not prefer to take swimming lessons with 5-year olds so I'm asking how to swim by self-learning. When I was younger I'd always go to the pool but I would never really learn how to actually swim, I'd just waddle around the shallow areas. But my dad recently made the point of the importance of swimming because his friend's wife drowned a few months ago and nobody was there to save her. I'm always cautious about going too close to deep waters and I would like to end those thoughts.

  • Best friend (girl) saw my penis?

Best answer: She is still your best friend. Just her having a look at you doesn't change things between you. Girls in that situation usually regard it as mildly humorous.
She could make up for it by giving you a quick look at her female stuff and you'll both be even better friends.

Seriously, the hardest part of learning to swim is conquering your fear of the water. Meaning you learn to float first, and then swimming is easy. Learn the 'dead man's float', floating face-down in the water (holding your breath of course). That teaches you that your body is buoyant, that you're not going to just sink to the bottom.. Then learn to float on your back. That's a little harder but when you learn that you can just roll over on your back any time and keep your face out of the water. THEN learn the stroking and kicking.

  • Is there really such thing as water toxicity?

Best answer: Water is not toxic. Over-hydration, properly called hyperhydration, is real. It dilutes electrolytes in your body to the point where nervous signals are interrupted, and it can be deadly. It's very rare to experience hyperhydration on accident. It's very rare to experience hyperhydration on accident. Unless you're working in a desert, sweating your a** off, and guzzling gallons of water but no food or electrolytes, you're probably safe. Some people experience hyperhydration by doing a dumb diet (zero sodium, etc.) while also drinking way too much water ("I need at least 20 glasses of water a day! We're all 731% water, you know.").

Drink water when you eat, and when you're thirsty. That's it. Your body is really good at telling you when you need water, and in most environments, it would take a concentrated effort to get too little or too much water.
