Now, however, my throat sort of feels like there’s a lump in it. I just started eating a piece of bread and swallowing is more difficult than it should be. I tried but couldn’t find anyone else with the same problem, no one who felt like their throat had a lump in it. Will I be ok? Honestly can’t afford a doctor visit much less an ER visit.

  • Do you think my doctor wanting me to see him in his office for this reason is odd?

I just saw my doctor a week ago. He ordered a blood test for me. I was called the next day and told the only thing wrong is high cholesterol and if I wanted to discuss a medication, I would have to visit him again. Couldn't this be done on the phone?

In my opinion, the doctor really shouldn’t be prescribing this to someone with a drug problem on a monthly basis, but he does. And my boyfriend swallows the whole bottle in 1-3 days (it’s a full month supply.) what can I do to report this misuse? I don’t want him to go to jail I just dont want him to be a zombie for 4 days straight. Am I allowed to speak to the doctor? The pharmacy? Is it acceptable to report the doctor if they refuse to listen?

Best answer: There's different types of blood banks. They are all regulated and practices and procedures must be validated based on the current research on acceptability and the standards published and inspected.

At the hospital level all blood is tested individually and as far as donor center testing for transfusions practices vary where mixing of sample (batching) is an acceptable practice for certain tests in order to cut costs. When done properly there are no problems. The problems arise when it is done inappropriately or when errors are made.

"NAT is also extremely expensive. NAT testing is performed on pooled samples. That means usually around 20 donor samples are mixed together and tested as a batch. If the batch tests positive, then each of the 20 donor samples is tested individually by our usual serological testing methods. See, I told you this was a bit confusing."

Testing performed, like all testing is subject to error in terms of either performance error or biological error. Testing is never 100% accurate.

We have encountered errors from regional blood banks supplying donor units and they have been reported to the donor centers although they are extremely rare.

  • I have a vitamin D level of 10 ng/mL?

Best answer: You are just a wee bit below minimums. Per WebMD:
"A level of 20 nanograms/milliliter to 50 ng/mL is considered adequate for healthy people. A level less than 12 ng/mL indicates vitamin D deficiency."

I remember the pills where really big and hard to swallow. That's not a dangerous dose if you're not taking it for a long time. Your body can handle one big dose of the stuff. It's taking it for long periods, month after month, that it can endanger your kidneys.
