    Best answer: Pros:
    - they're one of the best breeds to have with children, and so make great family pets
    - they are usually good with other animals when raised with them from puppy hood
    - they're very loyal, patient, obedient and willing to please
    - as a breed, they're intelligent and easy to train
    - having thick fur means they're less likely to have problems with cold weather
    - they make excellent watch dogs, as sometimes, purely their size can be a deterrent against intruders
    - since they're not a breed which is stereotyped as 'vicious' like the way Rottweilers, Dobermans and Pit Bull Terriers are, finding an insurance company which will cover them can be easy.

    Cons:
    - you MUST teach them at a young age to not jump up, or pull on the lead while on a walk, as an unruly dog of this size can cause even a physically strong adult issues with holding on.
    - being a bigger dog, it inevitably costs more to own them, since they eat more food, need more medication and require items like collars, harnesses and crates which are bigger, so more of the material which they're made from is needed
    - when young, they can be rowdy
    - if left alone, they can become destructive out of boredom
    - they can be stubborn and dominance can be an issue, especially among males
    - they're one of many breeds which sheds a lot, so they need LOTS of grooming, and no good for if you want a hair free couch in your living room, as this won't happen.
    - they tend to slobber a lot
    - being a bigger dog, they also tend to have a shorter lifespan than their smaller canine cousins (8 - 10 years)
    - they're prone to multiple health problems which can result in expensive vet bills. These include:-
    O 'Wobbler' syndrome
    O heart problems
    O tumors
    O skin problems
    O hip dysplacia
O extropion (a folding outward of the eyelid rim, usually on the lower lid)
    O twisted stomach
O bloat (they're best being fed smaller meals 2 or 3 times a day and rest afterwards to prevent this)

    Hope this helps.

So I had a Dalmatian who had trust issues around people besides me. So one day the daughter of my neighbors (who was a 3 year old toddler) tried to pet my dog through the fence, but my dog bite the girl's hand (the bite so bad that she needed stitches). The little girl's older siblings saw the whole thing of my dog biting her hand and instinctually told their parents about it. So the parents came and visited my house, and told me what happened. They were very angry, and told me they were going to sue me. So they sued me, and I lost thousands of dollars, and my dog had to get put down. It makes me mad that they sued me, while knowing my dog could get put down as a result of it. They didn't care at all about my dog being put down. I know what my dog did was not ok at all, but it wasn't his fault, he was just scared. I would've been willing to get rid of the dog if the parents just asked them too, instead of them telling me they were going to sue me and then actually doing it. Because of what happened, I am thinking about moving to another place.

We English are a tough reserved bunch when you think about it. But the tragedy is that the debauched left just cannot accept a democratic result which is tearing this nation apart! It's really wild out on the moors this morning. I was going to do a spot of riding as my knees feel better this morn. Instead I will get Cherry to bring some continental breakfast.

I was thinking about going back home to see family for the holidays.... I live in a different state. The family member that i was going to stay with says i can no longer bring my pup. She initially told me i could. She is seeing someone and he is allegedly allergic to dogs. I asked if he is allergic to all dogs, because my pup is a Maltese and is therefore a hypoallergenic dog. To sum things up, my dog isn’t welcome there. I’m not leaving my dog behind. I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old, he is now almost 4 years old and i’ve never spent a night without him. He is not just a dog to me. So at this point, i’ve decided to either stay at my place, just my pup and I for the holidays or we may take a trip to cali and spend it there. I’m a little upset because the dog wasn’t an issue before. I’m glad that I didn’t book my flight because i would have been livid. My question is, am i wrong for being mad?
