  • Planting a garden over a playground?

Planting a garden over a playground?

Best answer: The sand base would be good for drainage. But, rather than pile soil on top of that, consider building raised beds. You'll use less soil, and won't spend nearly as much time on your knees as you tend your garden.

Remove the concrete single-wide path from the sidewalk and widen the path to 4-feet wide, wide enough for 2 people to be side-by-side. 3) Remove all that grass and dig in better soil amendment and topsoil. Plant along the foundation there some short "mounding" shrubs, such as easy care boxwood, glossy abelia, or if you are not allergic, salvia (related to sage) plants. Get about 5 plants to plant along the porch. In front of those plants, get some very low-growing, low maintenance ground cover such as phlox. You will need about 20 small phlox starts planted in 2 rows of 10 about 10-inches apart. 4) Do line or "outline" the space with a plastic weed barrier edging right along at the edge of the sidewalk and around the new walk and steps to reduce weeds from growing along the edges there. -------------- That's about all I can offer at the moment. I would draw a picture but ANswers is difficult about uploading photos.

  • Should I keep my potted cactuses out of the rain?

So I have a medium-size potted cactus that I bought and planted in a pot correctly. (I have 3 or 4 of these) Should these stay out of the rain? I've heard that too much water can kill them. It's not a large cactus, therefore I didn't know if I should keep it indoors for while first since it is a pot.... show more

  • Garden of weeds😢?

Every summer we try to do a garden and every summer the weeds just explode. We keep up with them but by early July they are overwhelming. By the end of July the plants are dead or too small to produce anything. I don’t want to dump chemicals in there to kill the weeds so what can we do?

  • Does rain water ruin planting mix?

I had NOT yet planted my seeds but I prepared six planters with planting mix. The next morning I woke up and it was pouring! My planters were flooded with water but the soil has since absorbed the rain water. Will I be fine to stick with the same soil or do I have to replace it?
