  • Meat will kill you. Why not convert to veganism?

Seriously, red meat is terrible for your health. Chickens are packed full of antibiotics. Also it's disgusting the way you people abuse animals. Why not convert to veganism? We're a friendly community. Love Alice

My husband was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I cook all the meals we eat, and I am a working mom. We have two kids. It is very hard for me to cook food low in carbs and sugar that my kids will eat. Most meals I cook have meat and potatoes in them, I also cook pasta fairly often. We eat better than a lot of people, I often cook from scratch - including making my own noodles if I have the time. But carbs have always been a big part of our meals. When I cook meals that are new, a lot of times my kids won't even try them. I usually add a side item I know my kids will eat (like potatoes or mac and cheese) so I know they are getting something, and it's also something we don't have to eat. When I don't the kids won't eat the meal at all, then they are hungry and need something, so I either cook them some easy junk food or they eat lunchables or other crap. I don't want to cook two meals, but I want my kids to eat, too! They are small kids as it is, I'm not going to let them go without something in their belly. Anyway, anyone know some meals that are good for diabetes and my kids? I've done so much looking online but I just can't find many foods my kids would eat, and this next week is going to be basically all new meals they haven't tried before. Can they really be trained to like this stuff? And how, if they won't eat it, and I feed them crap instead because they need to eat?

  • Meateaters should alter their behaviour and language for non vegans? Don't talk about or cook meat near us, yes?

Frankly, I think we need to make public and office spacers SAFE for vegans. This means that meateaters shouldn't be able to cook or speak about meat in spaces shared with vegans. This is because such behaviour can trigger us. We don't use other offensive epithets such as racist terms. America needs to... show more

How was their thought not, "This looks like it'll make me very ill, better toss it out!"? I'm talking, of course, about blue cheese.

    Directions
In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, sour cream, sugar and vanilla until blended. Add grapes and toss to coat.
Transfer to a serving bowl. Cover and refrigerate until serving. Sprinkle with brown sugar and pecans just before serving. Yield: 21-24 servings.

    Test Kitchen Tips
In many recipes, thick and tangy Greek yogurt stands in beautifully for sour cream and lightens things up.
Mix in chopped candy bars. Crunchy Snickers and Heath bars play particularly well with the juicy grapes.

I hope you and your partner find the acceptance you seek. Like your Brexit, we are experiencing changing attitudes about social norms. Try settling in the Pacific Northwest, or in the New York or New Orleans areas. You will find them more accepting.
