  • Should I give money to the homeless directly? Or give it to charities? As many homeless spend it on drugs and alcohol?

Best answer: Yes, I'd give to an organized charity. If we reward begging by giving them money directly, it only reinforces that behavior.

  • Why is it that you can't help racist?

Best answer: When people feel threatened, they tend to close up and become fixed in their mindset, as a way to react to the perceived threat. Also, I would imagine that if some racists, on some level knew what they were doing was wrong, they would try and shove those thoughts and feelings deep down, because allowing them to... show more

Also, I would imagine that if some racists, on some level knew what they were doing was wrong, they would try and shove those thoughts and feelings deep down, because allowing them to surface would bring up too much guilt and shame for them to be able to process. Far easier to deny that part of themselves at any cost, than to feel awful about their actions. The ego tries to defend itself, and can tuck some bits beneath the layer of the conscious mind.

  • Apart from as an indication of race does a parsons appearance matter much to you in everyday life?

Best answer: I am a short fat stumpy little white man with long hair and dresses like a homeless person. What do I expect people to think when they see me? That is what they are going to see. But since I am a billionaire, I can afford to be how I want to be no matter what people think. Isn't that how this country works?

I get politics. I get the fact that the leader of your nation may not always be a respectable human being. Here in Australia, John Howard was Prime Minister for 11 years, and I freaking hated him. He was a nasty little opportunist that won elections by making the case that he would be brutally hard on refugees.
Yes, maybe some people really do hate Americans, but educated people should view America in a more rational way.
I believe all people deserve the chance to learn how to think critically. We are a long way off from that, but it is something to aim for.

  • How do I do a presentation in front of the class when someone in that class hates me?

Best answer: Does the idea of taking back power work for you? He wants you to crumble like you are. He gets sick pleasure by messing with your calm. He doesn't deserve it, but so far he has gotten away with it. One option you have is to not let it work. See him as an insignificant gnat that will not challenge the walls of your being. Let him wave his silly little arms, and flap his useless gums all he wants, because that childish behavior won't prevent you from living your life. You can take your power back, but not playing victim to his power trip. Pity him that his life must be so small and scary that he needs to puff himself up by putting others down, but treat his existence with apathy. He is irrelevant, don't give him the satisfaction of believing otherwise. When you give your presentation, and his powers of torment did nothing to prevent it, you gain a bit of your power back. When he wastes his time and energy trying to tear at your walls of self esteem, and you simply stand resolute regardless, you are the one with power. He is a drama tornado, don't get sucked in; you do you instead.

  • Do you think adult playfulness is too often shamed as being childish (granted, there are times when it’s inappropriate & thus childish)? Why?

Best answer: It happens and there should be no shame in it. Got to be that way to play with kids. And at times with my wife. In a normal situation there is always time enough to be adult. And of course one must always be a parent when it comes to children. Even if those children are grown adults. Knowing which is right at the moment is more an instinctual thing. We just know when to be a parent, or act like an adult, or just be playful and childish at times. Most of us get it right. Even if at times we have it all wrong. Conflicts do arise due to the inability to know which one when and where. But then it all works itself out and we balance it all as it should be again. That is life.
